Become a Projectarian Pattern Tester

Projectarian Pattern Tester Requirements

You must read everything on this page before you apply (I’ll know if you didn’t!)

This application is for joining my permanent team of Projectarian pattern testers. As a member, you’ll be required to test all the crochet patterns presented to you and your teammates. This may include watching videos and other pattern-related documents. Patterns may include amigurumi, garments and other items. This is not a paid occupation, but a voluntary one.

Perks:
– a permanent place in my team of pattern testers with access to testing every new Projectarian pattern and previews of upcoming projects
– a copy of the finished pattern to keep after testing
– occasional access to free yarn or yarn discounts for certain tests
– be included in occasional special events such as virtual workshops

Tools you’ll need:
– an email address
– reliable internet
– Facebook messenger

Skills you’ll need:
– time management is the most important skill in order to meet testing deadlines
– willingness to work with small hooks occasionally
– willingness to work with furry yarn occasionally
– willingness to work at a fast pace
– willingness to finely comb pattern documents multiple times to look for errors
– ability to spot discrepancies on different iterations of the same document
– ability to take clear photos of your crocheted models during and after testing
– willingness to redo incorrect handiwork
– compliance with all the following points:

1. Being a tester is a big commitment! You’re required to follow procedures reliably and complete assignments on time.
– failure to complete a test or meet a deadline without prior concession will result in termination. Reasonable deadlines will apply for each test, accounting for the time required to complete each task amid daily life obligations. It is assumed that applicants have free time to dedicate to testing and can manage their time accordingly without special supervision after the initial training period.

2. New members will be educated on testing procedures. Once proficiency is attained, you’ll be held to the same high standard as veteran testers.
protocol must be followed without ongoing prompts and reminders
– all members must familiarize themselves with the documentation on copyright, team privacy and testing procedures (to be provided)

3. Make sure you have ample free time to commit. While in progress, a pattern test usually requires daily participation. The following criteria will disqualify candidates:
– testing in between your full-time job, full-time studies or other full-time obligations (if you’re an experienced tester who can juggle this type of situation, you may still apply to become a tester)
– being a crochet designer yourself
– this application is not open to those who are designers

4. Copyright laws apply at all times. Testers may never redistribute pattern documents or claim portions of a design as their own.
– no information relating to a project may be shared outside of the team without express consent from the designer
– sharing of your progress pictures, sneak peeks and completed projects will be permitted during the appropriate phases of a test

5. The answer to The Last Question on the Application Form is:
“I have read the qualifying criteria

6. Tests are conducted within a group setting.
– your active participation is required
– acknowledging team leader announcements is compulsory
– within reason, all personal content and conversations will be excluded from the group realm
