ABOUT CANDYCANE
One magical Christmas Eve, a single enchanted snowflake drifted through an open crack in a kitchen window, settling quietly on a stack of four candy canes. Suddenly, in a tiny explosion of icy glitter and shooting stars, the smallest Christmas unicorn sprang into existence! Candycane the Christmas Unicorn has hooves made from sweet, crisp peppermint candy that click-clock delightfully as she trots across your dining room table, exploring all the bedazzling Christmas tree decorations. She can’t wait to take her own place on your tree, sparkling brightly in the wondrous eyes of small children while carols tinkle merrily in the background.
ABOUT THE PATTERN
Learn techniques such as how to make spiraling candy stripes, crochet features onto the body and embroider simple details on the face. The design has very little sewing and is crocheted almost entirely in one piece. Make Candycane as a poseable toy (no wires needed), or add a string and hang her on your Christmas tree. This is a quick project to work up, so you can make multiple to use as tree decorations.
Candycane can be made as a regular pony without her horn, and you may also omit the stripes on her legs by working them in a plain colour. Her hair can easily be made longer by adding more chain stitches although making it as directed will result in a mane and tail that’s easy to style by twisting, scrunching or smoothing into different ‘dos to suit all Candycane’s adventures.

PATTERN INFO
YARN WEIGHT:
Yarn #1. Double knit, which is the equivalent to yarn weight 3, light worsted, 8 ply or 11 wpi.
Choose weight 3 yarn with a label that calls for a 4 mm hook or that has a weight similar to 2.6 m/g. To determine this, look at the label on your yarn and divide the length by the weight
(i.e. 260 m ÷ 100 g = 2.6 m/g).
Yarn #2. Lace weight (for the horn only), which is the equivalent to yarn weight 0, 2 ply or 40 wpi.
Lace weight is the thinnest type of yarn available. Crochet no. 5 or 2 ply embroidery thread may be used for the horn. Make a gauge swatch as described on pg 6 of the pattern to confirm the correct fibre thickness and separate the embroidery strands from 6 down to 3 if needed.
YARDAGE: total amount = approx. 35g
