ANNOUNCING MY NEW MYSTERY CROCHET-ALONG WITH HOBBII: THE UNDERWATER TAILS CAL!

I’ve been posting sneak peeks about this project for a while – it’s been many months in planning – and I’m so excited to finally be kicking off today with the launch of our beautiful yarn kits for the Underwater Tails crochet-along!

The crochet-along (CAL) is a mystery so I can’t tell you exactly what we’re going to be making but I can give you a few clues: I have designed a reversible amigurumi that can flip inside out to reveal a different aquatic creature on each side! You can see examples of my previous reversible amigurumi projects here, for context (in fact, I have just written an entire book on them!)

Getting back to the subject, the characters we’re making in this CAL are 2 creatures that I’ve had on my list for a long time and I was so happy to realize they were going to be the perfect fit for this collab with Hobbii. These two critters are well-loved across the world and I’m sure you’re going to enjoy them! Check out some sneak-peeks here.

The pattern is going to be completely FREE for the duration of the CAL and sign-up starts today, so visit Hobbii to join in the fun and start preparing for your project. I highly recommend grabbing one of the designated yarn kits while you’re there because they are, of course, the ideal supplies for the project. While you can technically use other supplies, some of my pattern testers encountered issues with their models, where they were difficult or impossible to flip inside-out unless made with the kit supplies. For best results, use a Hobbii kit and make sure to follow the gauge swatching directions when you get your pattern!

To help you prepare for the CAL, I’ve posted an entire series of mini tutorials on Instagram demonstrating the techniques we’ll be using for the project. You can also find them on Facebook and TikTok, so pick your favorite platform to brush up on your skills before we start crocheting in June! The pattern is rated as intermediate in difficulty but if you’re a beginner who is willing to learn new techniques, follow the mini tutorials and you’ll be ready to join in when the pattern comes out!

I hope to see you in the CAL!
